Akrapovič is delighted to announce that the Slovenian exhaust manufacturer signed a multi-year agreement that will see Akrapovič become a Ferrari Hypercar Technical Partner.
This arrangement between the two highly respected companies will see close cooperation on technical aspects, beginning with the Le Mans Hypercar, the Ferrari 499P, which is competing for honours in the top class of the FIA World Endurance Championship (Le Mans Hypercar ‒ LMH).
Akrapovič has a documented passion for racing, and this has brought the company to share innovation and development with Ferrari. It is also through this shared ethos that both companies believe that the racetrack is the ideal laboratory for developing cutting-edge motorsport technological solutions. Akrapovič has a strong racing pedigree in its DNA, and so far 175 world champions have raced to success using its exhausts in various championships.
The Ferrari 499P is a four-wheel-drive, hybrid-engine, endurance prototype racer that delivers a maximum power output of 500 kW to the wheels and has a minimum weight of 1,030 kg.
“Everybody at Akrapovič is delighted about this new partnership,” commented Akrapovič CEO Davorin Dobočnik. “To be seen as the Ferrari Hypercar Technical Partner is a great honour, and we are eager to work in close collaboration with Ferrari,” continued Dobočnik. “It will be great to see the debut of this partnership, and there is no circuit better suited to our first race together than the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola. We can’t wait to see how the season progresses and where this partnership takes us in the development of new technologies and solutions for the Ferrari 499P, and we’re looking forward to seeing how the cars perform.”
Akrapovič will join forces with Ferrari for the seven remaining rounds of the 2024 FIA WEC championship, which will begin at Imola, Italy, this week, before moving to Belgium, followed by the 24h Le Mans in France in mid-June. The rest of the calendar will see races in Brazil, the US, and Japan before the culmination of the season in Bahrain in November. Two of Ferrari AF Corse’s Ferrari 499P cars will line up on the starting grid, with Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina, and Nicklas Nielsen in car number 50, and Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado, and Antonio Giovinazzi in 51.
