<![CDATA[EICMA Launch Yamaha - Akrapovič Exhaust Partnership
Visitors to this year’s EICMA Show in Milan will be able to see the launch of an exciting new partnership between two of the industry’s most respected brands – Yamaha and Akrapovič. The industry’s leading manufacturer of premium performance exhaust systems has joined forces with the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer.
Having sponsored the Yamaha MotoGP team in 2011 and Yamaha’s WSB team for many years, Akrapovič has already built up a strong and mutually-beneficial working relationship with Yamaha. Both companies are now pleased to announce that for 2012 and beyond, a wide range of Akrapovič exhausts for Yamaha’s key motorcycle and scooter models will be available exclusively through Yamaha’s European official dealer network.
The aftermarket exhaust business is an extremely important and competitive part of the overall accessories market. With both companies sharing the same high levels of commitment to durability, ergonomics, quality and design, the Yamaha/Akrapovič tie-up is good news for Yamaha customers and Akrapovič devotees across Europe.
The new range of exhausts for Yamaha motorcycles and scooters has been fully developed and produced by Akrapovič, and will feature a laser-engraved Yamaha model-specific logo as well as the Akrapovič logo. Most of the latest on-road exhausts are fully street legal and are homologated for EU sound and emissions regulations. For circuit-only use, the range will also include competition-specification exhausts for selected Yamaha bikes.
Phase one of the programme will see the launch in December 2011 of a range of Akrapovič exhausts for Yamaha’s leading on-road models. It will be followed at the beginning of 2012, by phase two, the release of high-performance exhaust systems for the YZ-F and WR-F 4-stroke off-road bikes.
The Akrapovič range will cover Yamaha’s main 2012 motorcycle and scooter models as well as some pre-2012 versions of these models. Further details will be announced in December.

<![CDATA[Akrapovič Successfully Enters The Custom Market
New Range of After-Market Exhaust Systems for Harley-Davidson Models Launched earlier in 2011 – proving a sales success
Akrapovič is now a contender in the custom market and is achieving higher than expected sales since launching earlier this yearThe new range of Akrapovič after-market exhaust systems for leading Harley-Davidson models is now on saleAkrapovič systems deliver unique design, performance and sound characteristicsStunning custom show-bike ‘The Morsus’, developed with Dreamachine Motorcycles as a statement of intent, showcases Akrapovič abilities. The Morsus has achieved awards at leading custom shows through 2011Akrapovič confirmed it intends to add to its line-up of custom models in 2012, specifically with more after market Harley-Davidson products like the V-Rod and Night Rod.
Akrapovič – the leading manufacturer of premium performance exhaust systems for motorcycles and cars – has successfully entered the world of custom motorcycles, with Harley-Davidson riders firmly in its sights.
The Morsus
Earlier this year Akrapovič revealed its first ever custom show-bike – The Morsus.
The Morsus has already created a buzz in the custom world and has seen competition wins at European events including Faaker See; Morzine Harley Days: at Barcelona; and a creditable 11th place at Sturgis.
Neil Morley, Marketing Director commented:
“We decided to build this machine with our partners, Dreamachine Motorcycles, here in Slovenia to demonstrate that while we are known for our racing prowess, we have such a breadth and depth of in-house talent that entering the competitive world of custom bikes is a natural extension of what we do. The Morsus hopefully demonstrates our talent and is a statement of intent.
“Our designers and engineers worked closely with the guys at Dreamachine Motorcycles, here in our factory, often late into the night. We wanted to get it just right and I think we have achieved the look, sound and performance that people associate with Akrapovič’s regular products. Albeit we’ve pushed the boundaries a little!
“You’ll no doubt notice the visual cues of the scorpion – long associated with the company. We have also managed to use materials that we excel at utilising – titanium, stainless steel, chrome plating and even carbon fibre”.
Tomaž Capuder, Dreamachine Motorcycles, himself a winner of many international prizes for custom bike designs in Daytona and all over Europe from 1999 onward, said:
“This project was a big challenge for me. I admire the work of Igor Akrapovič very much and I wanted to bring together two motorcycle worlds:, racing and custom. I also followed an idea of building a special cycle chrono bike on 26-inch wheels, which was quite challenging, but I’m happy with the final result. The body of the bike looks like a scorpion from many angles.
“We incorporated some interesting details which reflect the nature of Akrapovič – you ride it a bit like a racer, and we managed to use Igor Akrapovič’s birth date in the bike – but you will have to find that for yourself!”

Akrapovič Custom Products
Akrapovič has put into production a range of premium exhaust systems targeting the most popular Harley-Davidson models. The Akrapovič custom range for Harley-Davidson motorcycles provides the rider with the following benefits:
Outstanding Design
Designed with a leading custom specialist, the Akrapovič designs complement the individual style of the motorcycles. The unique outer sleeve design morphs from a standard conical tube, to a much more interesting form.
Pure Performance
Akrapovič exhausts are famous for their impact on performance born from 20 years of racing success. This enhanced performance starts with the choice of materials, the development, design and manufacturing process. Each system is developed individually for the model, resulting in more horse power and more torque.
Deep Resonant Sound
The unmistakable deep, resonant sound of Akrapovič has been carefully tuned for that authentic custom experience. Customers can choose an Open System or Slip Ons and can adjust the sound to accompany the ride.
Finest European Craftsmanship
Akrapovič uses Austenitic stainless steel, the highest quality chrome plating, or the option of silicone-based black powder painted finish. These materials give an outstanding finish and product durability. Few can match the combination of these materials, the passion, skills, experience and dedication of the 500 Akrapovič 500.
Unique Features
Akrapovič custom range for Harley-Davidson also offers a number of unique features:
Each model comes in either an Open or Slip-On version
Open Line
The Open Line is for those who like it loud and proud, transforming the look and sound of the original machine. Uniquely on the Open System, Akrapovič Open Line uses a real silencer, unlike many competitors who use a baffle. This enhances both performance and sound characteristics. Akrapovič Open Line offers an optional insert, enabling the customer to adjust the noise level.
Unique designReal silencersOptimised exhaust gas flow for optimal performanceDeepest sound – the loudest for our custom rangeOptional noise reduction insertStainless steel.
Slip-On Line
Enjoy pure enjoyment with Akrapovič Slip-Ons. The Slip-Ons feature an optional valve system enabling you to adjust the sound level with a simple switch and no dirty hands! The catalytic converter is removable for those markets where this is appropriate.
The Slip-Ons offer a modular system that can be upgraded, so you can mix and match how your system looks. Change your end caps, add a valve system, add a noise reduction insert – it’s up to you. After all, motorcycling is all about freedom.

Harley-Davidson Range
Akrapovič confirmed its initial product range will be targeting models from four of the Harley-Davidson families:
SportsterTouringDynaSoftail.
Thomas Friedrich, Akrapovič Product Manager said:
“The Akrapovič range is firmly aimed at those Harley riders who seek a bit more exclusivity. Riders who appreciate fine European craftsmanship, outstanding performance, design and of course the unmistakable deep resonant sound of Akrapovič.”
Akrapovič custom products will be available in more than 60 countries through Akrapovič distributors.
Future model expansion
Akrapovič confirmed it intends to add to the custom line-up in 2012, specifically with more aftermarket Harley-Davidson products for machines from the V-Rod family.

New Akrapovič Products at SEMA
Concept Titanium Evolution for Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG
The Akrapovič Concept Titanium Evolution exhaust system for the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, which is being presented at SEMA 2011, acts as a preview of the upcoming high performance exhaust system for the legendary Gullwing. Its massive 6.3-liter V8 engine breathes through an Akrapovič exhaust system with pronounced sound. Engineers did a great job keeping the unwanted drone effect out of this very light exhaust system that is another piece of Akrapovič art. A gain of 12 HP and 19 Nm/14 lbs-ft of torque is achieved with the Concept Evolution system’s link pipes with resonators and a rear muffler. The Concept exhaust system saves an amazing 20 kilograms/44 pounds. When available, the serial version of the Concept Evolution exhaust system for the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG will also include a Wireless Kit for exhaust valve control. With its valves closed the V8 sounds a bit louder than in its stock configuration. The real difference comes from open valves, where this powerful machine roars like a typical V8 muscle car.

New Akrapovič Driving Experience
Akrapovič and Autódromo Internacional do Algarve have teamed up to offer an exclusive Akrapovič Driving Experience center in Portimão, Portugal, that has a range of Akrapovič-equipped cars available.

This is the first Akrapovič Driving Experience Center to be established, with ambitions for further centers in the U.S., China, and northern Europe.

The Akrapovič Driving Experience is unique in the world of aftermarket exhausts. The superb lineup of top performance cars includes the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, 911 Carrera S, Nissan GT-R, and BMW M, all equipped with the latest Akrapovič exhaust systems.

Akrapovič: Leaders in Performance, Sound, and Design
Two successful decades, both on and off the track, are proof of the quality and strength of Akrapovič.
In motorsport, the Akrapovič-equipped Manthey-Racing Team Porsche has achieved wins in the prestigious 24 Hours race on the famous Nürburgring circuit. In 2009, Team Akrapovič a-workx, with driver Julian Dercks driving an Akrapovič-equipped Porsche 911 GT2, took the title in the German Porsche Sports Cup. Akrapovič exhaust systems offer significant advantages on the track, including weight reduction, more power, and more torque.
This commitment, and the constant striving for perfection, provides the key to winning. Over the past twenty years, fifty-seven world champions have chosen Akrapovič exhausts, eight in 2010 alone. Recently in 2011 the company confirmed its most extensive Motorcycle Racing Program, including the MotoGP, with the Yamaha Factory Team.
Akrapovič goes to great lengths to design the best exhausts: investing in cutting-edge research, development, and a testing center with CAD/FEM workstations, LabView workstations, SuperFlow automotive and motorcycle test benches, a MAHA-HORIBA emissions test bench (TÜV emissions testing laboratory), a SuperFlow research test bench, and advanced measurement devices.

Pure Power
Akrapovič exhausts, which are being developed for wins on the racetrack, also offer their growing number of fans other benefits: a deep resonant sound, weight reduction, durability, more horsepower, and a distinctive appearance. The power gains can be amazing. For example, the aftermarket Akrapovič Evolution exhaust system fitted to the Porsche 911 GT2 developed an outstanding +41 HP and +74 Nm of torque.

Similarly, the weight reduction can be equally impressive. The aftermarket Akrapovič Evolution Race exhaust system fitted to the Porsche 911 GT3/RS saves an incredible 26 kilograms of weight. This translates into improved weight distribution and handling.

Pure Sound
Performance addicts know it’s not just the lower weight and improved performance that makes them smile. The looks have to be right too, and Akrapovič systems are works of art for both eyes and ears.

For the company’s founder, Igor Akrapovič, a former racer and self-professed audiophile, the sound is critical: a deep resonant sound is the perfect accompaniment for a performance car.

Different needs, different exhaust systems
Akrapovič exhaust systems can be divided into five groups:
1	Slip-On: Akrapovič’s base systems with a single- or dual-muffler design. Tailpipes are available with a choice of materials and finishes.
2	Evolution: The base Slip-On with additional link pipe(s), which utilizes sport catalytic converters and/or resonators. Some specific Evolution systems can include header pipes. Evolution systems deliver the deep sound Akrapovič systems are known for, with greater weight savings, power gains, and torque improvement.
3	Slip-On Race systems: These systems are specifically designed for track applications and are an upgraded version of the Slip-On systems with additional options available (x-pipe, link pipes, mufflers).
4	Evolution Race: These represent the top of the range, where weight reduction is a crucial factor when selecting an exhaust system.
5	Sports Cup: Only available for the Porsche 911 GT3. This system is designed to meet the race series rules.
Most of these systems are intended for road use and are street-legal, but many are also developed for the racetrack, utilizing high-quality, built-in high-flow sport catalysts. All of the exhausts are made with the highest quality materials in either titanium or stainless steel.
Special titanium alloy
Not all titanium alloys are created equal. Akrapovič titanium exhaust systems are crafted from a proprietary titanium alloy. Although this alloy is considerably more expensive and difficult to form than more common “commercial” alloys, it ensures a product that is substantially more durable, dimensionally stable, and heat resistant. All Akrapovič products are designed without compromise for enhanced performance and are unparalleled in quality.
Highest quality carbon fiber
Like their special titanium alloy, Akrapovič also uses quality carbon fiber composites to accentuate their unique and sporty exhaust systems. Carbon-fiber tail pipes are handcrafted and produced at Akrapovič’s European composites production facility with special care. A unique post-curing carbon fiber treatment makes this product resistant to extreme high temperatures.

In motorsport, the Akrapovič-equipped Manthey-Racing Team Porsche has taken wins in the prestigious 24hr race at the famous Nürburgring circuit.
This commitment, and the constant striving for perfection, provides the key to winning; in the past twenty years, fifty-seven world champions have chosen Akrapovič exhausts, eight in 2010 alone. In 2011 the company recently confirmed its most extensive Motorcycle Racing Program, including MotoGP with the Yamaha Factory Team.
Akrapovič goes to great lengths to design the best exhausts: investing in a cutting-edge research, development, and testing center with CAD/FEM workstations, LabView workstations, SuperFlow automotive and motorcycle test benches, a MAHA-HORIBA emission test bench (TÜV emissions testing laboratory), a SuperFlow research test bench, and advanced measurement devices.
Pure Power
Akrapovič exhausts, which are being developed for wins on the racetrack, also offer their growing number of fans other benefits: a deep resonant sound, light weight, durability, more horsepower, and a distinctive appearance.
For the company’s founder, Igor Akrapovič, a former racer and self-professed audiophile, the sound is critical: a deep resonant sound is a perfect accompaniment for a performance car.
Unparalleled in quality, all Akrapovič products are designed without compromise for enhanced performance.
