>>The guiding principle of the Akrapovič Company is achieving top quality and maximum capacity while ensuring acceptable exhaust system noise levels. A contribution to the development of new exhaust systems was also made by Gio Sala, a 6-time World Enduro Champion, who tested prototype exhaust systems for the Akrapovič’s R&D Department.
At Akrapovič, we are aware that in addition to static noise levels with which our exhaust systems have no problems (94 dB at 13 m/s), dynamic noise levels are also extremely important. Namely, this is the noise we hear at a race or during recreational off-road riding.
Even though official regulations that would determine dynamic noise measurements do not yet exist, we are, because of the great importance of this issue, actively working on finding new solutions which will ensure the preservation of this sport that is so dear to all of us.
We have successfully manufactured exhaust systems that decrease the dynamic noise level all the way down to 8 dB and at the same time have no negative impact on the efficacy and handling of the motorcycle.
This was also confirmed by Giovanni: “After an intensive test and after having tried many different mufflers I can say that I am very surprised by the characteristics of some of them. Even though they are not loud they do not cause the overheating of the motor. They are suitable for recreational motorcycle riding as well as racing.”
During his visit to Slovenia, Sala also toured the production site with great interest, especially in high-tech machinery and equipment.
