SLIP-ON EXHAUST SYSTEM for the BMW R 1150 R ROCKSTER (2003)

The Akrapovic SLIP-ON system is the first level of exhaust system tuning, and is therefore relatively simple to install. It is composed of a muffler and a link pipe.

The link pipe for the BMW R 1150 R Rockster is made of high-quality stainless steel, while the tubes are cylindrical in section. The joint with the header assembly is a free-floating connection held together with a metal clamp. The stock temperature shield for the legs is used. At the other end, the link pipe and the muffler are welded together in a fixed connection.

The muffler is round instead of oval section, in order to conform with the use of the stock temperature shield for the legs.

The outer sleeve of the muffler is available exclusively in titanium. The muffler is attached to the motorcycle using an Akrapovic double carbon-fiber clamp, which holds the muffler tightly in place and withstands the physical forces of riding.

Performance

Measurements of the Akrapovic SLIP-ON system on the BMW :

Power: The design of the Akrapovic SLIP-ON system is well-adapted to the BMW, as can be readily seen from the power curve. In comparison with the stock curve there are no drop-outs. Up to around 4000 rpm the curve follows the stock curve, and from there on a substantial increase is evident. At 6700 rpm the bike puts out 3.1 HP more than the stock configuration, with the max. increased power of 4.6 HP coming at 5950 rpm. The top of the curve shows a continued advantage over the stock curve, with the power beginning to increase again at 7500 rpm.
Torque: The Akrapovic SLIP-ON system gives you a boost in the torque department as well. Torque is increased throughout the entire rpm range, and the torque band is wider, which gives you more torque for a longer time. Although the torque curve is higher and wider, it follows the same shape as the stock curve.

In addition to the aesthetic and performance enhancement, the Akrapovic SLIP-ON system also offers weight savings of 3.64 kg.
