The Akrapovič-sponsored Yamaha Motor Monster Energy Deutchland team chalked up an outstanding success in the fifth round of the IDM championship.
After two less successful races last weekend, Matěj Smrž was sparkling again. As part of the Akrapovič-sponsored Yamaha Monster Energy Deutchland team, he finished fourth and first, earning himself 38 more points.
“We really had bad luck at the Nürburgring and in Spielberg [Austria]. Technical problems and my crash at the Red Bull Ring, altogether something you really don’t need in a racer’s life but you can’t help it,” said Smrž. “All the more, I’m extremely happy that I was able to keep up with my competitors from the RAC team, who both know the Assen track by heart.”
After five rounds of the IDM championship, Matěj Smrž, who rides a Yamaha YZF-R1, ranks fifth overall. The next race will take place 5 August in Schleiz, Germany.
