Ryan Dungey continued to dominate the American motocross series with two races in Washougal. Musquin and Roczen finished just short of the podium.
In the U.S. Pro Motocross Championship, Ryan Dungey (Red Bull KTM Factory) continued his outstanding riding on his 450 SX-F, whose engine roars through an Akrapovič exhaust system. After a 2–1 result at the Washougal MX Park he stood at the top of the podium for the sixth time in a row.
“The track was really tough to pass on and Alessi was riding strong in the first moto,” said Dungey after the race. “For the second moto, I just need to get out front early and put in some good laps to distance myself from the pack. The second moto was much stronger. I was able to get out front at the start of the moto and could focus on my own race and on choosing some good lines to put in a solid 30 minute moto.”
Ahead of the two-week break from racing, Dungey has a full 80-point lead over his closest rival, Mike Alessi.
Two KTM protégés in the 250 class also finished with solid results but just missed the podium. Marvin Musquin finished fourth with a 3–4 result, and Ken Roczen fifth (4–7). They also hold fourth and fifth places in the overall rankings, with Roczen ahead of Musquin.
The next race will take place 11 August in Southwick, Massachusetts.
