After the Italian Enduro weekend, racers using Akrapovič exhaust systems on their bikes stood on the highest podium step in the E1, E2, and E3 classes.

The Italian city of Castiglion Fiorentino hosted the fifth of eight rounds of the Enduro World Championship. Akrapovič can be again proud of the outcomes for racers fighting the terrain with the help of our exhaust systems: they racked up a nice collection of the highest places.

In the E1 class, Antoine Meo (KTM) won the Saturday race and Eero Remes (KTM) won the Sunday race. Because Meo dropped out on Sunday, the overall victory went to Remes, who’s currently only two points behind the second-ranked racer in the overall standings. Despite his less successful weekend in Italy, Meo remains in the lead, with a nice advantage of 30 points. 

In the E2 class, another orange-clad KTM racer, Cristobal Guerrero, was the best after two days. He leads the overall standings at four points ahead of Pierre Alexandre Renet (Husaberg).

Racers using Akrapovič exhausts on their bikes delivered their best performance in the premium E3 class: the overall victory went to Christophe Nambotin (KTM), who beat Joakim Ljunggren (Husberg) and David Knight. Knight now rides a two-stroke KTM 300 EXC. It seems the fall at Erzberg didn’t bother him any because he won Sunday’s race. “I felt I needed to try something new,” Knight commented on changing his bike. “Something hasn’t quite clicked this year and I’m not sure why. I feel like I’ve been riding good and, although the four-stroke is bigger, it’s also better than before, yet my times still weren’t there. I think there’s been a shift in events. This season the special tests have really suited the lighter and nimbler two-stroke.”

The three are also at the top of the overall standings: Nambotin (first), Knight (second), and Ljunggren (third).

Now the racers have some time to relax and practice until the next race, taking place on 25 August in Sweden.
