On KTMs from London to Sydney
25. July 2012
Two friends, two motorcycles, two years of preparation, and a 40,000 km trip. Darren and Dave are traveling from the UK to Australia, and Akrapovič is also helping support them.

On 1 July in London, 47-year-old British firefighter Darren Higginson and 51-year-old Australian police officer Dave Darcy started their 25,000 mile (about 40,000 km) trip to Sydney, Australia. Where did they get the idea, and how did these two from the UK and Australia get together? Darren found Dave’s videos on YouTube, and this was followed by a visit “down under” and their first off-road adventure together.

“When I went over to Australia to ride with Dave, we only rode out as far into the bush as you can in a day from Sydney and back the following day. It was an amazing experience and I just wanted to do more—something bigger,” explains Darren. “Dave and I kept speaking over Skype about doing some longer rides and Dave just said, ‘Why don’t we just ride from your place to mine?’ I said yes straight away.”

Both of them ride KTM 690 Enduro Rs equipped with an Akrapovič exhaust system. So the trip will not only test the capacities of the bikes and the two men, but also the durability of the light exhaust system. On their Facebook site we found a comment that the locals are excited about the sound of their single-cylinder engines.

You can follow their adventure on Facebook. They’re currently somewhere in Kazakhstan.

Guys, we wish you great discoveries exploring the unknown!
