Mixed Feelings for Suzuki GRANDys Duo Team after Polish Race
06. August 2012
Unfavorable weather conditions on Sunday spoiled the good impression achieved after Saturday’s excellent results. Even so, Jerman remains in the lead in the Superbike class.

The fifth round of the Polish Championship took place at the Poznań Circuit the last weekend in July. The members of the Suzuki GRANDys duo team, who have all their Suzukis equipped with Akrapovič exhaust systems, were extremely pleased with Saturday’s race results. In the morning, Marko Jerman and Andy Meklau were the fastest in the qualifying session, in which Andy came extremely close to the track record. In the afternoon race, Meklau won the Superstock 1000 and Formula X-Treme classes, and Jerman won the most powerful Superbike class.

Team manager Jacek Grandys said after the race: “Today was a good day for our team, we’ve proved who’s the best in Poland. Before the race I was worried about the tires because it was really hot, but Marko and Andy rode perfectly, saving the tires for last few meters. I hope that tomorrow we’ll be able to win in both classes again.”

Unfortunately, the bad weather on Sunday worked against them. In the Superstock 1000 race, which took place on a partly wet track, Andy Meklau finished ninth, and in the rainy Superbike race Meklau and Jerman crashed out one after the other, ending up with no points. Nonetheless, Marko Jerman remains in the lead with 138 points and a 40-point advantage over his closest rival. The Suzuki GRANDys duo team also dominates the Superbike and Superstock 1000 classes, and holds second place in the Supersport class.
