This is the Spanish rider's third Dakar title, the tenth consecutive prize for KTM and a triumphant debut for the newly developed KTM 450 Rally bike with an Akrapovič exhaust. In addition, second place went to KTM rider Cyril Despres, also equipped with an Akrapovič exhaust. Slovenian rider Miran Stanovnik, on a KTM Akrapovič-colored bike, finished one of the toughest races of modern racing in an excellent eleventh position.
