MX isn’t just for the boys Bravo, Steffi!
12. April 2011
Steffi is definitely a girl who makes even very fast (at least in their minds) boys blush. She demonstrated this again at the season-opening world motocross championship race in Sevlievo, Bulgaria. At the venue there was a schedule change, so the women were forced to have two races in one day instead of two different days.

Still wet from her well-deserved bubbly on the first-place stand, Steffi Laier stated: “It was strange to have the two races on the one day and with the second one when it was already getting dark. The second moto wasn’t so easy on the one hand, but also not so difficult. We were fighting in the first four laps but then I found my rhythm, but in the end I was flying blind because of the problems with the sun and the dust.”

In the first race, Laier and her KTM with an Akrapovič exhaust won with a whopping 18-second lead over her next pursuer. In the afternoon trial things were closer because she crossed the finish line with a good 3-second lead.

The women will have nine championship races this year; the next one is coming up on 17 April in Greece.
