Jorge Lorenzo was once again the first to cross the finish line at Silverstone, extending his overall lead even further. Racers in the Moto2 and Moto3 classes also delivered great performances.

The results of the most recent races show that Majorcan Jorge Lorenzo, riding a Yamaha equipped with an Akrapovič exhaust system, caught the right rhythm to beat the best road racers in the world. This past weekend in the UK was no different because he achieved his third victory in a row. After starting off in fourth and then falling back to fifth at the beginning of the race, he caught up with the leading Stoner in lap six and finally beat him in an exciting battle. Lorenzo remained in the lead from lap eleven to the finish, where he passed the checkered flag with a 3.3-second advantage.

Lorenzo said the road to victory wasn’t easy: “Today was a very difficult race, the front guys were very strong and very fast so it was very hard for me to catch them and stay with them. Little by little the rear tire dropped a bit more; I was confident and I was faster than them and I started to catch them. When I caught up I didn’t want to crash, so I waited for my moment and was patient. When I caught Casey we had a wonderful fight; luckily for us I had a better pace and I passed him. Four laps from the end I made a big mistake and almost crashed! I’m very happy with the result, and for the team who gave me a good bike again.”

Having won four races out of six, he’s increased his overall advantage to 25 points, thus also increasing Yamaha’s overall lead in the manufacturers’ standings. After attaining an excellent second in the qualifying session, Lorenzo’s teammate Ben Spies finished the race fifth, which is his best performance this year.

Among the racers using Akrapovič exhausts on their bikes, several achieved great results in other classes. Sandro Cortese was third in the Moto3 class (and is currently second overall), and the following Akrapovič-supported racers took second to fourth places in the Moto2 class: Scott Redding, Marc Márquez, and Andrea Iannone.
