Leon Camier, riding a Yamaha with an Akrapovic exhausts, won the British Superbike Championship 2009. A win in the first race of the BSB Championship at Silverstone gave Camier his 17th victory of the season and enough points to take the Championship title. Having started in the pole position for the 9th time this season, Camier battled with teammate and Championship rival James Ellison for the lead position for most of the race before finally passing him in the penultimate lap to take the well deserved chequered flag.
