Great expectations before the new racing season
30. March 2011

                    News flash

  • Cooperating with top teams and many world champions once again in the 2011 season
  • 57 world championship titles
  • 20 years of experience born from a passion for racing and forged under extreme competitive conditions

Here at Akrapovič we are looking forward to the beginning of the new championship season with great optimism and even impatience. 2011 has gotten off to a very promising start because racers using our exhaust systems have already won at Dakar (Marc Coma, KTM), Le Touquet (Steve Ramon, Suzuki), the extreme enduro Hell’s Gate race (Graham Jarvis, Husaberg), and the AMA/FIM SX series, where James Stewart (Yamaha) is a leading contender for the championship title.

This will definitely be an important season for Akrapovič because in 2011 the company is celebrating its twentieth anniversary. As befits the company’s roots, which give it a passion for competition, in which there can be no compromise, and in order to promote its brand, we have decided to support teams and competitors that are capable of fighting their way to the top and are contenders to win titles. These include many world champions in both off-road and road racing, who will rely on Akrapovič exhausts in their 2011 championship battles.

We are extremely pleased to announce that we have begun working with the Yamaha factory team in MotoGP, the premier motorcycling championship division, for which we will be working with current world champion Jorge Lorenzo and his teammate Ben Spies. We are also continuing to work with Suzuki MotoGP Team. In the Moto2 class we have signed on with new, promising teams and riders, who belong at the top. We are supporting the largest number of factory teams in the Superbike World Championship, where we continue to work with the Aprilia, BMW, and Yamaha factory teams, equipping nearly half of their teams; in the Supersport class we are pleased to announce our partnership with the newly-reborn Yamaha factory team.

In the lead-up to the new season, Slavko Alojz Trstenjak, the Akrapovič R&D Motosport manager, says: “Following our brief lull in action, we’re all really looking forward to the start of the new season, when we’ll follow the achievements of the competitors using our exhaust systems. This break was too long for motosport fans, but too short for those of us working to develop and produce exhaust systems. In the upcoming season we’ll have greater representation, which will heat up the action in the MotoGP division, not to mention our new supercross team that will be competing in the US. We’ve got potential champions in every motosport championship around the world. Because racing requires not only courage but also luck, let’s wait for the battles to begin: I hope everyone has a great time following our favorites!”

We are stronger than ever before in off-road racing as well; James Stewart of Yamaha is already winning in the American supercross series with our exhaust system, and this year we have also begun working with the KTM factory team there. We will be working with the Yamaha, Suzuki, and KTM factory teams in the motocross world championship series, as well as names like Antonio Cairoli, Ken Roczen and Steven Ramon. In other championships we are also working with teams including BMW and Husaberg. The enclosed list gives the teams and competitors that Akrapovič is directly supporting in the 2011 season and the championships they are competing in.
