World Supermoto Championship
France: Hermunen second
25. October 2011

In the last race of the Supermoto world championship, this Husqvarna rider made it to second place after three crazy races, and missed third place by five points overall.

The highest level of the Supermoto competition ended with three races for the French Grand Prix. Mauno Hermunen finished the first two races on the 1.5-kilometer track with 170 meters off road in third place, and in the last race he raised his arms in victory at the finish line—but, unfortunately, one lap before the end by mistake. He realized his error after Ivan Lazzarini roared past him, then rode another lap and finished in second place, earning himself second place overall at the end of the day.

In this year’s Supermoto season Mauno Hermunen (riding a Husqvarna SM 449 RR with an Akrapovič exhaust system) just missed making the podium behind brothers Adrien and Thomas Chareyre and Ivan Lazzarini. If only he hadn’t made that silly mistake in the last race and if . . . well, that’s racing. Congratulations to Mauno and Husqvarna!
