Winning two first places in the Czech Republic, the Italian has scored his fiftieth Motocross World Championship victory. In the end four Akrapovič-supported racers stood on the podium in the MX1 and MX2 classes.
So far only three motocross legends have managed to pull this off: Joel Robers, Joel Smets, and current KTM team director Stefan Everts. At the Czech Grand Prix last weekend they were joined by Sicilian Tony Cairoli: this was the fiftieth time he stood at the top of the podium in the Motocross World Championship.
“I’m very happy with this victory because it’s my fiftieth, so it’s special,” Tony commented on his victory at Loket. “Now Matterley Basin will be nice because it will be rough and I like it like that. Even if there are a lot of people riding on it, they’ll prepare it very well and I think it should be a good race.”
Another bike sporting an Akrapovič exhaust system stood below the podium next to Cairoli’s KTM 350 SX-F: Clément Desalle’s Suzuki RM-Z 450. Desalle’s 4-2 score placed him in overall third place. Four rounds before the season finale, these two riders hold first and second places overall: Cairoli with 492 points and Desalle with 462 points. We’re very proud of both of you!
Another two Akrapovič-supported racers stood on the MX2 podium. The victory went to KTM-rider Jeffrey Herlings, and third place went to Zach Osborne (Yamaha). Herlings has thus increased his overall lead to 57 points.
The next round will take place on 19 August in the UK.
